The Friendship Ride Germany 2009 yielded 18,000 Euros for a good cause – and from August 13th to 15th, Harley-Davidson will party once more on the Wasserkuppe!
It was a warm, sunny weekend in August last year when thousands of bikers, aviators, tourists and locals met on the Wasserkuppe in the Rhön mountains in the heart of Germany. Together, they celebrated a giant party - the first Friendship Ride Germany. Besides fun and action, the hallmarks of any Harley party, the event had a charitable theme: Harley-Davidson dedicated the proceeds to local charitable institutions and the fight against myopathy. The orange charity bandanas were sold out in no time, and in the end, a proud sum of 18,000 Euros for the good cause stood below the bottom line.
And so, on March 23rd, Harley-Davidson Germany was able to hand a cheque over 13,500 Euros to the German Myopathy Society - invaluable funds in the research of and fight against myopathic disorders, which lead to a progressive muscle weakness and permanently impaired mobility. The youth educational institution on the Wasserkuppe, which provides school trips and holiday camps to children and adolescents, received 4,500 Euros.
After this success of last year’s event, it quickly became clear to Harley-Davidson that there had to be a follow-up party in the Rhön again in 2010. The Friendship Ride Germany 2010 will take place from August 13th to 15th, and of course once again on the Wasserkuppe!
The big party starts on Friday, August 13th, 2010 at 12 pm, ending on Sunday, August 15th, 2010 at 6 pm. Admission will once again be 10 Euros. All participants receive a charity bandana and a numbered token ribbon. There will be plenty of music and fun, regional delicacies (thanks to the Rhön charm), a huge trader mile, great stunt and aerial displays and Demo Rides on the latest Harley models. The sweeping bends of the fantastic Rhön roads invite bikers to memorable rides and cruises. And as the Wasserkuppe is a hill of aviators, guests may of course experience the Rhön from far above on sightseeing flights. The highlight will be a grand parade, with the bikers honouring a truly unique region of pleasant, narrow roads, gentle hills, wooded dales, green expanses and the pretty baroque city of Fulda.
